About Nsit Atai

The area has 10 political wards. It has its own seat in the State House of Assembly, the Nsit Atai State Constituency. For the House of Representatives it is part of the Uyo/Ibesikpo Asutan/Nsit Atai/Uruan Federal Constituency.

Farming is an important part of economic life in Nsit Atai. It has a rural economy in which roads matter for moving farm produce to market. Trading is also common, and farmers and women are named among the groups that depend on this work.

Communities in the area include Odot, Ikot Akpabio, Ikot Uboh, Ikot Essien, Ikot Uyo and Idiaba. The Ekpene Ukim to Okobo road passes through the area. Other roads lead towards Nsit Ubium and the Eket axis.

How it helps people in Nsit Atai

For families and communities

A model primary school at Ikot Akpabio and a model primary health centre at Odot are both complete. The health centre has already hosted Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Week activities, so pregnant women and children can be served closer to home. Ten Compassionate Homes give vulnerable households in each ward a place to live, and the youth centre at Odot is designed to offer skills and digital training.

For work and income

Grants reached 37 farmers, 92 traders, 67 equipment recipients and other business owners, with N81,250,000 in cash grants. Roads are expected to help farm produce reach markets. Five road projects are recorded, two of them still under construction.

For getting around and reaching services

The Odot - Ikot Uboh Road is 14.28km and is designed to open movement toward the Eket area. The Ekpene Ukim - Nsit Atai - Okobo corridor links Nsit Atai with Okobo and wider routes. The Ikot Akpabio - Odot Road is meant to give the school and health centre better road access.
