Agricultural, trader and MSME grants

About the project

The ARISE agricultural, trader and MSME grants are cash and equipment support given by the Akwa Ibom State Government to farmers, market traders and small business owners in Nsit Atai Local Government Area. In all, 201 people in Nsit Atai have benefited.

Cash grants went to 37 farmers, worth N30,500,000, and to 92 traders, worth N40,750,000. Two small and medium businesses received N10,000,000 between them. A further 67 people received equipment support, while two beneficiaries received cars and two received minibuses. The cash grants total N81,250,000.

Beneficiaries apply through the ARISE Youth Employment portal and are selected from qualified residents. Grants for Uyo Federal Constituency, which includes Nsit Atai, were presented by Governor Umo Eno at the Ibom Hall grounds in Uyo on 11 August 2025.

Farming and petty trade are the main sources of income in Nsit Atai. The grants are meant to help farmers buy inputs, traders grow their stock and small firms expand, and the vehicles are expected to support transport businesses. The scheme is part of the wealth creation pillar of the ARISE Agenda.

Impact Analysis

An assessment of the impact of these accomplishments on the people and communities.

For families and communities

This support can affect household income and food production.

For work and income

Grants give farmers and traders money to buy inputs or stock, and equipment and vehicles can help people earn a living. Such support works best when it comes with access to inputs, markets, extension services, processing facilities and transport.
