About the project

The ARISE Farmers Grant gave cash support to farmers in Obot Akara Local Government Area. In Obot Akara, 49 farmers received grants worth N24,500,000 in total, about N500,000 each.

The grant is an Akwa Ibom State Government programme under Governor Umo Eno's ARISE Agenda. Farmers from Obot Akara received their support at the Town Square meeting for Ikot Ekpene Federal Constituency, held at Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium on 17 April 2025. At that meeting, 655 farmers, traders and small business owners from Ikot Ekpene, Essien Udim and Obot Akara received grants worth N260 million in total, along with equipment.

The money is meant to help farmers buy inputs, clear more land and expand their farms. Obot Akara is a farming area, so support to farmers reaches a large part of the local economy.

The programme is expected to raise farm output, increase household income and create work in rural communities. It sits within the ARISE Agenda's focus on agriculture and food security.
