For families and communities
Farming gives a living to a large share of Esit Eket people. Bringing the plantation back into use is meant to give the host communities a working estate on their land again.
I'm glad to share that work on Dakkada Global Oil Palm Estate rehabilitation in Esit Eket LGA is under way. Rehabilitation of the former Akwa Palm plantation, now Dakkada Global Oil Palm Ltd.

Rehabilitation of the former Akwa Palm plantation, now Dakkada Global Oil Palm Ltd. The estate spans three LGAs, with Esit Eket communities Etebi Idung Assan, Ntak-Inyang and Etebi Akwata.

The rehabilitation of the Dakkada Global Oil Palm Estate is an agricultural project to bring one of the largest oil palm plantations in Akwa Ibom State back into full use. The estate was formerly known as Akwa Palms Estate. It covers six communities in three Local Government Areas: Etebi Idung Asan, Etebi Akwa Ata, Unyanga, Udung Uko, Ntak Inyang and Orukem, across Esit Eket, Urue-Offong/Oruko and Mbo.
Revival work began under the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel, when Pastor Umo Eno served as Executive Director of Agricultural Investment. That phase provided a perimeter fence, buildings within the plantation, graded farm roads and new seedlings, and paid staff entitlements. In July 2023, Governor Eno visited the farm and the State Government resumed direct management of the estate, now run as Dakkada Global Oil Palm Limited. The host communities agreed to hand the plantation over to the state.
The State Government has since built 1.35 kilometres of main access and internal roads to the estate at Etebi in Esit Eket. The road has drains on both sides, three culverts, a stone base and an asphalt surface. The work was supervised by the Ministry of Works and Fire Service, and the project signboard names Jeoshkay Limited as contractor.
The road was commissioned on 11 September 2026 as Day 11 of the 39 projects marking the 39th anniversary of Akwa Ibom State. Ambassador Assam Assam, Director-General of Campaigns, represented Governor Eno.
The road is meant to ease the movement of farm inputs and produce and link the plantation to the wider economy of the area. The estate is expected to raise palm oil output and create jobs for young people in the host communities, in line with the agriculture and food security goals of the ARISE Agenda. Rehabilitation of the wider estate is still in progress.
