About the project

The Ibom Agricultural Equipment Leasing Facility is a farm machinery yard at Ekpri Nsukara in Uyo Local Government Area. It was developed by the Akwa Ibom State Government through the Ministry of Agriculture.

Governor Pastor Umo Eno commissioned the facility on 29 April 2026. It is the first phase of the state's equipment leasing scheme, with further phases planned.

The yard holds 25 tractors with implements such as planters, harrows, ploughs and ridgers. It also has tractor sheds, administrative buildings, a maintenance workshop, two low-bed trailers for moving equipment, a fuel dump, access roads and storage.

Farmers can lease the machines instead of buying them, at a subsidy of about 50 per cent. Before the scheme, hiring a tractor to work one hectare cost about N150,000. The facility is meant to cut that cost, help farmers cultivate larger areas and turn farming into a mechanised business.

It is a key part of the agricultural revolution pillar of the ARISE Agenda, and is expected to raise food production in the state.

Impact Analysis

An assessment of the impact of these accomplishments on the people and communities.

For families and communities

Machines take much of the hard labour out of clearing and planting. Access to them can help farming households grow more food.

For work and income

The facility and its 50 per cent subsidy reduce the financial burden on farmers and support more cultivation and food production. Farmers get the use of machines without the cost of owning them.
