About the project
The Construction of the 11-kilometre Owot Uta - Nung Oku - Edeobom Road is a major rural access and agricultural infrastructure project linking Ibesikpo Asutan and Nsit Ibom Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State. The asphalt road runs from Owot Uta through Nung Oku Ekere and Afaha Udo Eyop to Edeobom and the Utuat Market junction. It passes through seven communities in Ibesikpo Asutan and one in Nsit Ibom.
The road was built by the Akwa Ibom State Government in partnership with the World Bank and the French Development Agency, under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP). Yaroson Partnership Limited handled the detailed design and supervision. It was among the first projects flagged off after Governor Umo Eno took office in 2023. Work included removing unsuitable soil, rebuilding the road base, installing drains and laying asphalt. The road is now completed.
The road leads to the Urua Ekpo Nwa market at Ede Obom 1, where traders buy and sell farm produce. It gives farmers, traders and transport operators an all-season route between the two local government areas.
The road is expected to cut travel time and transport costs, ease the movement of farm produce to market and support local trade and jobs. It is part of the rural development focus of the ARISE Agenda. Since March 2026, a six-member community maintenance group has carried out routine upkeep such as clearing drains and repairing potholes.
Deputy Governor Senator Akon Eyakenyi commissioned the road on behalf of Governor Umo Eno on 7 May 2026.

Impact Analysis
An assessment of the impact of these accomplishments on the people and communities.
For families and communities
The project improves access to schools, healthcare facilities, markets, and other essential services for residents of Ibesikpo Asutan and Nsit Ibom. It enhances mobility, strengthens social integration between communities, and reduces the hardship previously associated with poor road conditions.
The road also improves safety and accessibility for students, farmers, traders, transport operators, and the general public.
For work and income
The road significantly reduces transportation costs and travel time while improving the evacuation of agricultural produce from rural communities to urban markets. This strengthens food distribution, increases farmers’ incomes, stimulates local commerce, and supports agricultural productivity.
The project also creates short- and long-term economic opportunities through road maintenance, transportation services, and increased business activity along the corridor.
