About the project

The Usaka internal road network is an 11.71-kilometre rural road project in Obot Akara Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. It comes with two bridges, each with a 15-metre span. The roads run from Usaka through Ibong Okpo Eto to Abiakpo Ikot Otu, and from Ikot Otu to Nko.

The project is funded by the Akwa Ibom State Government and built by Tenth Construction, an indigenous firm. Governor Pastor Umo Eno flagged it off on 22 February 2024 at Group School, Usaka Annang, with a target of 12 months. At the same event he approved a new model primary health centre to replace the old Usaka Health Centre.

By January 2026 the work was at an advanced stage. The road was already easing movement for Usaka Annang, Nto Ekpe, Abiakpo, Nto Ekpu Ikot, Nko and nearby villages. Community leaders said the area had gone without a good road for decades.

The road is expected to cut travel time, make it easier to move farm produce to market, and boost trade between this part of Akwa Ibom and neighbouring Abia State. No commissioning date has been announced yet.
