About the project

The Idiaba - Nsit Ubium Road is a rural road corridor that links Idiaba in Nsit Atai Local Government Area with communities in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area. Its full name is the Idiaba - Ibakang - Adia - Ndukpoise Road. The corridor passes through seven communities: Idiaba, Adia Nsit, Ikot Otu, Ibakang, Ikot Mkpene, Ikot Udokang and Ndukpuise.

The State Executive Council approved a 12.5-kilometre Idiaba - Ibakang - Adia - Ndukpoise road in November 2021. Two roads on this corridor were later taken up under the Akwa Ibom State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (AKS-RAAMP), which is supported by the World Bank. They are the 7.84-kilometre Idiaba - Adia Nsit - Ndukpuise Road and the 2.6-kilometre Ikot Otu - Idiaba Road. Both first received spot improvement, which covers grading, compacting and minor drain repairs. In 2025 the World Bank approved an upgrade to a full road construction package, and communities were briefed on it at the Ibakang Civic Centre. RAAMP was due to close out by June 2026.

The road is meant to give farming communities in Nsit Atai and Nsit Ubium an all-season route to markets, schools and health centres, and to link them to bigger roads in the area.

It is expected to make it easier and cheaper to move farm produce, which is the main aim of RAAMP. The project fits the ARISE Agenda's focus on rural development and agriculture.

No commissioning of the road has been recorded yet.
