About the project
The 23.25-kilometre Ikot Ekaide to Ikot Okoro to Ikot Ibritam Road is a major rural road in Oruk Anam Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. It links Ikot Ekaide, Ikot Okoro and Ikot Ibritam, the local government headquarters, and has two bridges.
The road was started under Governor Udom Emmanuel. The work was split between two contractors, and the two bridges were given to Amitec Construction Company. Governor Pastor Umo Eno's administration took the road over at about 50 percent completion in 2023, re-awarded some of the work and completed it.
Governor Eno commissioned the road on 29 March 2025. Amitec Construction Company is the contractor named for the project. The road is completed.
The road is expected to boost trade and open up the farming communities of Oruk Anam. It is also expected to give better access towards Rivers, Bayelsa, Abia and other Niger Delta states. It fits the ARISE Agenda commitment to finish inherited projects.
