About the project

The Nkari, Mbiabong, Ibono Okporo, Mbente, Obrong and Anwaf road and spur is a 5.0-kilometre road being built in Ini Local Government Area. It is a State Government project under Governor Pastor Umo Eno.

Construction is ongoing. Earthworks with a bulldozer have been carried out along the route. On 12 September 2026, at the commissioning of the Methodist Model Primary School in Nkari, the council chairman, Hon. Inibehe Umah, pointed to the road as work still in progress. The Governor's representative at the event also said the Governor remained committed to completing it.

Once finished, the road is expected to link Nkari to Mbiabong Ikot Udofia, Odoro Ikpe and other parts of Ini Local Government Area, and to give the community a better route towards Uyo and Ikot Ekpene.

The road is also expected to improve access to schools, markets and farms in the area. It forms part of the ARISE Agenda's work to open up rural communities. The contractor and completion date have not been published.
