Ikot Essien - Ikot Uyo Road

About the project

The Ikot Essien - Ikot Uyo Road is a 3.09-kilometre internal road in Nsit Atai Local Government Area. It links the communities of Ikot Essien and Ikot Uyo and serves nearby villages.

The road was built by the Akwa Ibom State Government under Governor Umo Eno. It is a paved single carriageway with drains, and it has centre and edge markings. Before the work, the old route was in a poor state and caused hardship for people who used it.

The road now gives residents an easier way to reach farms, markets, schools and health centres, and to connect to bigger roads in the area. It is part of the ARISE Agenda's drive to open up rural communities.

The road was commissioned in September 2026 as part of the state's anniversary celebrations. Governor Umo Eno was represented by Senator Bassey Albert, the immediate past Senator for Uyo Senatorial District.

Impact Analysis

An assessment of the impact of these accomplishments on the people and communities.

For families and communities

Roads like this show their value in daily life, through shorter journeys, easier access to schools and health facilities, and more contact between communities.

For work and income

Farm produce can be carried out of the villages more easily on a paved road, which helps farmers reach buyers.
