About the project
This project is the rebuilding of the permanent orientation camp of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at Ikot Itie Udung in Nsit Atai Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. Every new batch of corps members posted to the state spends its orientation course here.
The Akwa Ibom State Government approved the reconstruction of the camp, which was announced on 1 August 2025. In January 2026 Governor Pastor Umo Eno told newly arrived corps members that work would start very shortly on rebuilding the entire camp.
The camp is in poor shape. In April 2026 NYSC officials spoke of leaking roofs, collapsed ceilings, broken windows and too few hostels for the growing number of corps members. No contractor, cost or start date has been announced, and the design images show what the new camp is meant to look like.
The rebuilt camp is expected to give corps members safe, comfortable hostels and better facilities during their orientation.
