About the project

The Court of Appeal Complex is a court building being provided in Uyo by the Akwa Ibom State Government for the Uyo Division of the Court of Appeal.

For years, appeals from Akwa Ibom have been heard in Calabar, and cases from the state have made up a large share of the work of the Calabar Division. The state government has said it is ready to provide the buildings needed for a division in Uyo.

Work on the site has started, with site clearing under way.

When complete, the complex is expected to bring appeal hearings closer to people in the state, save lawyers and litigants the cost of travel and help cases move faster. It sits alongside other support for the justice sector under Governor Pastor Umo Eno, such as a planned estate for judges, in line with the ARISE Agenda.
