For families and communities
The road makes it easier for people in Ibotong to reach the headquarters town for services, school and market. It is seen as a sign that the area is no longer left out of state road projects.

A 2.9km road linking the council secretariat at Urue Offong with Utuku (Ukuko II) and Ibotong Eweme. It was commissioned on 28 October 2024 and is the first road built in the LGA by the state government.

The Urue Offong-Ibotong Road is a 2.9km road in Urue Offong/Oruko Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. Also called the Secretariat Road, it runs from the council secretariat at Urue Offong through Utuku (Ukuko II) to Ibotong Eweme, linking three communities.
The Akwa Ibom State Government under Governor Umo Eno funded the road. Bulletine Construction Company Nigeria Ltd built it, under the supervision of the State Ministry of Works and Fire Service. The road has drains on both sides, culverts and a spur, with a 150mm stone base and 60mm of compacted asphalt. It is designed to last 20 years. About 80 percent of the workers on site were young people from the area.
It is the first road built by the state government in the area since the LGA was created in 1991. The people are mostly farmers, fishermen and traders, and the road gives them a paved route between the headquarters town, Ibotong and the markets beyond.
The road is expected to open up the council headquarters for growth and boost trade in the area. More roads have been promised, including one from Oruko Junction to Eyubiasang Beach.
Governor Umo Eno commissioned the road on 28 October 2024, represented by the Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi.
