About the project

The Model Primary Healthcare Centre at Eyulor is a new state-built health facility in Eyulor village, Urue Offong/Oruko Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. It serves Eyulor and the surrounding communities of the LGA.

Governor Umo Eno promised the centre on 20 August 2023, during a visit to the Methodist Church Nigeria, Eyulor Circuit Headquarters, Diocese of Oyubia. Stakeholders of the LGA had chosen a primary healthcare centre and access roads as their most basic needs. The Akwa Ibom State Government built the centre as part of its programme of model primary healthcare centres across the state. By October 2024 it was nearing completion.

The centre gives rural dwellers a place close to home for first-line care, so they do not have to travel far for basic treatment. Primary healthcare centres are meant to be the first port of call for medical attention and to support the work of general hospitals.

It is expected to cut the time and cost of reaching care and improve health in the area, under the health pillar of the ARISE Agenda.

Governor Umo Eno commissioned the centre on Wednesday, 21 May 2025.
