ARISE Model Health Centre

About the project

The ARISE Model Health Centre is a primary health centre being built at Ikot Etim, Ukpom, in Ikono Local Government Area.

It is an Akwa Ibom State Government project under Governor Umo Eno. It is part of the state's plan to build a model primary health centre in each of the 31 local government areas. Work is ongoing.

On site, the perimeter fence has been completed, with plastering and coping. Site levels have been taken and four old buildings have been pulled down. The foundations for the main buildings have been set out and dug. Filling of the site with laterite is ongoing.

Once complete, the centre is expected to bring better primary health care closer to people in Ukpom and nearby communities, so they do not have to travel far for basic care. It fits the health pillar of the ARISE Agenda.

The centre has not yet been commissioned.
