About the project
The ARISE Model Health Centre is a primary health centre at Nduo Eduo in Okon, Eket Local Government Area. It is part of the Akwa Ibom State Government plan to build and equip a model primary health centre in every Local Government Area, with the long-term aim of one centre per ward.
The centre has an accident and emergency unit, a laboratory with a pathology analyser, a resuscitation machine, an immunisation room, a nutrition centre and a vaccine store. It also has staff quarters and a solar power system, and it is fully staffed.
Before the centre opened, residents of Nduo Eduo and nearby villages relied on Immanuel General Hospital Eket and other facilities further away. The new centre is meant to bring first-line care, emergency treatment, child immunisation and maternal care closer to home.
The centre is part of the health pillar of Governor Pastor Umo Eno's ARISE Agenda, which aims to expand access to good primary health care across all 31 LGAs.

Impact Analysis
An assessment of the impact of these accomplishments on the people and communities.
For families and communities
The centre has brought health care closer and reduced travel time for maternal, child and emergency care. Mothers and children can get immunisation, nutrition and laboratory services locally, and critical cases can be stabilised before referral to a hospital.
For work and income
The centre has created direct and indirect jobs for people in Eket. It also fits the state policy of free treatment for pregnant women and older citizens, which lowers the cost of care for those families.
