About the project

The Ikot Akpan Afaha to Mile 24 to Ekefe Road is a 15-kilometre road project linking Ikot Akpan Afaha, Mile 24 and Ekefe in Ukanafun Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

Ukanafun is mostly rural, and farming is the base of its economy. The road is meant to connect these farming communities to one another, to nearby markets and to the wider road network towards Ikot Akpa Nkuk, the council headquarters.

Better road access is expected to cut travel time and the cost of moving farm produce, and to make it easier for residents to reach schools and health care. This fits the ARISE Agenda aim of opening up rural communities.

Work is ongoing, and one section is not yet paved. The contractor and expected completion date have not yet been confirmed.

Impact Analysis

An assessment of the impact of these accomplishments on the people and communities.

For families and communities

When finished, the road should make daily travel easier for the communities along it, including trips to school, to market and to the General Hospital.

For work and income

Better road links are opening up rural communities and supporting movement, commerce and agriculture. For Ekefe and its neighbours, that means farm produce and goods can reach buyers more easily once the road is complete.
