For families and communities
The completed roads have improved movement within Oron and made homes easier to reach. Better streets also make it simpler for visitors and services to get to households.
I'm proud to share that work on Ukpong Street and Effiong Esang Street roads in Oron LGA is finished. Two internal roads, with spurs, were completed in Oron.

Two internal roads, with spurs, were completed in Oron. Together they measure 4.2km. They improve movement within the area.

The Ukpong Street and Effiong Esang Street roads are internal roads in Oron town, in Oron Local Government Area. Each street is 2.1 kilometres long, giving 4.2 kilometres of road in all, with spurs. The streets run through busy parts of Oron and link homes to the 100-unit Federal Government Housing Estate and the Maritime Academy.
The roads were started by the previous administration. The Akwa Ibom State Government under Governor Umo Eno took them up as continuity projects. Governor Eno flagged off the work on 23 August 2023, with the Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, and the Commissioner for Works, Prof. Eno Ibanga, present. He commissioned the completed streets on 26 May 2026, during his third anniversary tour of Oron.
The streets now have asphalt and side drains. An 800-metre discharge drain was built with them to carry storm water away. The work has ended years of erosion and flooding on these streets.
The roads are meant to make movement easier for residents, traders and transport workers, and to protect homes and businesses from flood damage. They are part of the urban roads work under the ARISE Agenda.

An assessment of the impact of these accomplishments on the people and communities.
The completed roads have improved movement within Oron and made homes easier to reach. Better streets also make it simpler for visitors and services to get to households.
The roads have eased access to businesses and supported local economic activity. Oron's economy depends on fishing, trade and small enterprises, and these need streets that customers and goods can use.
