About the project
This is a model primary school at Ikot Abasi Oniong, in the Oniong area of Onna Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. The building has been roofed. Its current status is yet to be confirmed.
The school is part of Governor Pastor Umo Eno's plan to deliver model primary schools across the 31 LGAs under the ARISE Agenda. Model schools already opened in other LGAs, such as Oruk Anam and Obot Akara, have an ICT laboratory, a library, a sick bay, staff quarters, a football field and playground, a water supply system and solar power. Pupils there received free uniforms and exercise books.
When complete, the school is meant to give children in Ikot Abasi Oniong and nearby communities a safe, modern place to learn, and to help raise the standard of basic education in Onna.
