About the project

The Methodist Model Primary School in Nkari is a State Government model school in Ini Local Government Area. The school was first established in 1929. It has now been rebuilt as one of the state's model primary schools.

The school has 17 classrooms fitted with whiteboards and desks, an ICT laboratory and solar power. It also has housing for the head teacher, the deputy head teacher and teaching staff.

Children in Nkari had been out of school for about two years. The new school gives them a place to learn within the community. Pupils were provided with uniforms, shoes, socks, bags, exercise books and textbooks through the State Government.

The school was commissioned on Saturday, 12 September 2026, as part of the State's 39 projects for the 39th anniversary of Akwa Ibom. Governor Pastor Umo Eno was represented by Senator Aloysius Etok. The Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ubong Umoh, gave an overview of the project. Work on the road linking Nkari to Mbiabong Ikot Udofia, Odoro Ikpe and the rest of Ini is still ongoing.
