About the project

This project is the construction of a base and barracks for the Nigeria Police Force Counter Terrorism Unit in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

The Inspector-General of Police approved Nsit Ubium as the location for the unit, and the Akwa Ibom State Government under Governor Pastor Umo Eno is backing the project. Work is ongoing, with buildings at roofing stage.

The base is meant to house Counter Terrorism Unit officers close to the communities they protect. It is expected to improve the response to serious crime and give greater safety to residents, traders and travellers in Nsit Ubium and nearby areas.

The project is part of the state government's support for security agencies under the ARISE Agenda.
