About the project

The ARISE Youth Friendly Centre in Nsit Ubium is a youth skills and recreation centre built by the Akwa Ibom State Government in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area.

The building has a fenced compound, a games room and offices. It was commissioned in September 2026 as part of the state's 39th anniversary celebrations. It is one of seven new youth friendly centres across the state, with the others in Oron, Ikono, Uruan, Etinan, Nsit Atai and Etim Ekpo.

The Ministry of Youth Development runs skills training at the centre, with each centre assigned specific skills. Applications for the first programme opened in late September 2026. It is a three-month intensive course for young people aged up to 45 who come from and live in the local government area.

The centre is meant to give young people in Nsit Ubium practical, marketable skills so they can find work or start their own businesses. It is part of the youth empowerment work of the ARISE Agenda under Governor Pastor Umo Eno.
