About the project

This entry covers the inclusion of village youth presidents in community policing in Essien Udim. It is a security policy of the Akwa Ibom State Government, not a building project.

Under the policy, the youth president of each village is brought into the state security framework. The youth presidents work with village heads, clan heads, local government officials and security agencies. Security agencies were directed to train them. The policy was announced by Governor Umo Eno in June 2026.

In Essien Udim, this means the youth leader in each village is meant to act as a link between the community and the security agencies. They are expected to pass on early warning about crime and help keep watch at the grassroots.

The policy is meant to make villages safer, speed up the flow of information to security agencies, and give young people a direct role in protecting their communities. It fits the ARISE Agenda focus on peace and security as a base for development.
