For families and communities
Each completed home gives a vulnerable household a safe, dry place to live in its own village. Because the homes are spread across the wards, the scheme reaches many parts of Essien Udim and not only the headquarters.

I'm glad to share that work on ARISE Compassionate Homes (14) in Essien Udim LGA is under way. Fourteen homes for named beneficiaries across the wards.

Do you know a family this will help? Tell me in the comments, and share this with a neighbour so more people can see it.
Fourteen homes for named beneficiaries across the wards. 11 are completed and 3 are ongoing. The finished homes have furnished rooms.

The ARISE Compassionate Homes in Essien Udim are 14 free homes built by the Akwa Ibom State Government for poor and vulnerable people in the local government area. The homes are spread across the wards, in communities such as Ukana Nsasak, Ikot Uko Etor, Mbiabet Ikpe, Ukana Ikot Ntuen, Adiasim Ikot Ekon, Ikot Obong, Ekpenyong, Urukobong, Ikot Ineme (two homes), Ikot Offiong (Ikot Ebak), Ikot Ada Utor, Itak Ikot Akpan and Ukana Ikot Akpan Afia.
The scheme is a personal initiative of Governor Umo Eno and is paid for by the state government. People are picked at ward level, and the homes go mostly to widows and others living in the worst conditions in their villages, regardless of party. Of the 14 homes in Essien Udim, 11 have been completed and 3 are still being built.
Each home is a fully furnished two-bedroom bungalow. Homes handed over under the scheme come with solar-powered water supply and electricity. New owners receive their house documents and a business support grant of N500,000 to start or grow a trade.
One of the first homes in the area, at Ukana Nsasak, was handed over in October 2024 by the Commissioner for Internal Security, retired General Koko Essien, who represented the Governor.
The homes are meant to give families a safe and decent place to live, and the grant is meant to help them earn a living. The scheme is part of the ARISE Agenda focus on care for the poor and the vulnerable. The remaining three homes have not yet been handed over.

An assessment of the impact of these accomplishments on the people and communities.

A family that receives a home no longer has to find money to build or repair a house.
