About the project

The ARISE Compassionate Home in Oku Abak Village is a fully furnished two-bedroom bungalow in Abak Local Government Area. It was built for a widow in the community who had no safe place to live.

The home was delivered by the Akwa Ibom State Government under the ARISE Compassionate Homes Initiative of Governor Umo Eno. The initiative builds homes for poor and vulnerable people in their own villages across the state. The home is completed and in use.

The house comes with furniture, including a living room set and a dining table. It has solar power and a solar-powered borehole, so the owner has light and clean water. The beneficiary also received a business support grant of N500,000 to help her earn a living.

The home is meant to give the owner safety, dignity and a stable base for her family. It is part of the ARISE Agenda goal of reaching the poorest people in every community. Oku Abak is one of six Abak communities where such homes have been handed over.

The home was handed over in July 2025 at a ceremony attended by state officials and Abak leaders. State officials inspected it again during the Abak project tracking tour in October 2025.
