About the project

The ARISE Compassionate Home in Ikot Akwa Ebom, Ediene Abak, is a fully furnished bungalow in Abak Local Government Area. It was built for a widow in the community.

The home was delivered by the Akwa Ibom State Government under the ARISE Compassionate Homes Initiative of Governor Umo Eno. The initiative builds homes for poor and vulnerable people in their own villages across the state. The home is completed and in use.

The house is furnished with a living room, bedroom and other basic fittings. Homes in this programme come with solar power and a solar-powered water supply. The beneficiary also received title documents for the home and a business support grant of N500,000.

The home is meant to give the owner safe, secure and dignified housing and a way to earn a living. It is part of the ARISE Agenda goal of caring for the poorest people in every community. Ikot Akwa Ebom is one of six Abak communities where such homes have been handed over.

The home was handed over on 25 June 2024 by the Commissioner for Environment, Chief Uno Etim Uno, who represented Governor Umo Eno. The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Udeme Otong, attended the ceremony.
