About the project

This is a community security measure, not a building project. It brings the youth presidents of Etinan's 64 villages into the Akwa Ibom State security set-up.

It is part of a statewide scheme that Governor Pastor Umo Eno unveiled on 23 June 2026, which brought 2,272 village youth presidents across the state into the security architecture. Youth presidents are to act as links between their communities, traditional rulers and security agencies. They are to gather information on what happens in their villages, including the movement of visitors, and pass it on for early warning and intelligence.

The governor directed security agencies to design training for the youth leaders and fit them into the state's community security framework, including the Ibom Community Watch. Credible information that helps prevent crime or catch criminals is to be rewarded.

The scheme is meant to strengthen security at the grassroots and give young people a real role in keeping their communities safe.
