About the project

This project is the construction of 9.76 kilometres of roads through Ikot Eyo, Edem Idim Okpot, Mbiekene, Nnung Obong and Ikot Ntung in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, leading to the East West Road. It includes a 60-metre span bridge and spurs at Luke Avenue, Ikot Mbat and Ndon Adiana. A further 2.3km of road is part of the scheme.

The project was funded by the Akwa Ibom State Government and built by Bulletine Construction Company Nigeria Limited. The roads are paved, with a roundabout and a junction in a built-up area.

The roads open up farming communities in Nsit Ubium and give them a link toward neighbouring Eket, Esit Eket and Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Areas. They are expected to make it easier to reach markets, schools and health centres, and to move farm produce.

Governor Umo Eno commissioned the roads in November 2024. The project is part of the ARISE Agenda push to open up rural communities across the state.

Impact Analysis

An assessment of the impact of these accomplishments on the people and communities.

For families and communities

The roads and bridge are meant to join five named communities, so that people can reach neighbours, schools and clinics more directly.

For work and income

Feeder roads like these help farm produce move from villages to larger roads and markets. The bridge is meant to keep the route open across the water.
