About the project

This project is the construction of 9.8 kilometres of road in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. One section runs from Ikot Akpan through Atan to Ikot Imo. Another runs from Atan through Ikot Ede to Ndiya Ikot Ukap. There is also a spur to Ikot Akan.

The road is being built by the Akwa Ibom State Government. Work is ongoing. The earth road has been formed and new concrete drains have been built on both sides.

The roads link several farming villages in Nsit Ubium with one another and with the wider road network. When complete, they are expected to make it easier for people to reach markets, schools and health centres, and to move farm produce out of the area.

The project is part of the ARISE Agenda drive to open up rural communities across the state.

Impact Analysis

An assessment of the impact of these accomplishments on the people and communities.

For families and communities

Ikot Akpan, Atan and Ndiya Ikot Ukap are among the places where new roads are restoring access to markets, schools and healthcare. When this road is finished, it should link these villages to each other in all seasons.

For work and income

When complete, the road is meant to help farmers in several villages carry produce to market. The drains already built are meant to protect the road from flooding.
