About the project
The General Hospital at Ikot Ekpene Udo is a new hospital being built in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
The Akwa Ibom State Government is funding the project, and work is ongoing. The buildings have reached roof level, with a concrete pump and trucks at work on site. Governor Pastor Umo Eno has inspected the site several times, including in January 2026 and May 2026. On the January visit he directed the contractor to put the main hospital buildings ahead of the mortuary.
When complete, the hospital is expected to give people in Nsit Ubium and nearby areas secondary health care close to home, cutting long trips for treatment. It is part of the health plank of the ARISE Agenda.
Ikot Ekpene Udo is also the site of a model primary school, a solar water facility and new internal roads.
