About the project

The Model Primary Health Centre at Oboyo Ikot Ita is a modern primary health care facility in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area. It was built to bring quality health care closer to the people of the LGA.

The centre was delivered by the Akwa Ibom State Government. It fulfils Governor Umo Eno's promise, made on taking office, to build a model primary health centre and a model primary school in every local government area of the state.

The centre has consulting rooms, a maternity ward, a labour room, a pharmacy, a laboratory, an immunization unit and staff quarters. It runs on solar power so that it can offer services 24 hours a day.

The centre is expected to improve care for mothers and children, cut the distance people travel for treatment and ease pressure on general hospitals. Residents are encouraged to register with the state health insurance scheme to use its services. It supports the health pillar of the ARISE Agenda.

Governor Umo Eno commissioned the centre in person on 4 November 2024.

Impact Analysis

An assessment of the impact of these accomplishments on the people and communities.

For families and communities

With a labour room, staff on site and power at all hours, women can deliver closer to home.

For work and income

Families spend less on transport when care, tests and medicines are available in one place nearby. Solar power avoids fuel costs for running the centre.
