For families and communities
Families who lived in houses with leaking roofs and cracked walls now have a safe, dry home with water and light. Ownership by Deed of Gift gives them legal security.
I'm proud to share that work on ARISE Compassionate Homes in Nsit Ibom LGA is finished.

Eleven two-bedroom bungalows have been built for vulnerable residents chosen after field assessments by the State Government. Each home is furnished, has solar electricity and a borehole, and is legally transferred to its owner by a Deed of Gift.

The ARISE Compassionate Homes in Nsit Ibom are 11 two-bedroom bungalows built free of charge for some of the most vulnerable residents of the LGA, one in each of its 11 wards. Communities that received homes include Oboetuk, Asang, Ikot Obio Etan, Afia Nsit, Mbiokporo 2, Afaha Offiong, Ikot Oku Nsit, Ikot Nya, Edebom I and Ikot Offiok Nsit.
The homes are a flagship humanitarian programme of Governor Umo Eno's administration, paid for by the Akwa Ibom State Government. Beneficiaries were picked at ward level through field assessments, with priority for people living in the worst conditions. The programme aims to deliver 500 such homes across the state.
Each home comes furnished, with an external kitchen, solar power and a borehole, so the owner does not face utility bills they cannot afford. Ownership is passed to the owner through a Deed of Gift. Each beneficiary also receives a business grant of N500,000 to start or grow a small trade.
The homes are meant to give families safe and decent shelter and a fresh start, in line with the ARISE Agenda's promise to care for the poor and vulnerable.
The Afia Nsit home was handed over on 5 July 2024 by Governor Umo Eno, represented by the Commissioner for Information, Comrade Ini Ememobong. The beneficiary was also offered free medical tests and treatment paid for by the State Government.
