About the project
The Model Primary Health Centre at Ikot Ekpe is a new health facility in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. It serves Ikot Ekpe and nearby communities.
The centre was built by the Akwa Ibom State Government under Governor Pastor Umo Eno, who has promised a model primary health centre in every LGA. The State's supplementary budget provided N390 million for its construction.
The centre offers maternal and child care, antenatal care, immunisation and treatment of common illnesses. It is equipped with modern facilities and staffed to meet the area's primary health care needs. It is meant to spare pregnant women and children the long journeys they once made to reach care.
The centre was commissioned on Monday 14 September 2026 by the Commissioner for Works, Prof. Eno Ibanga, who represented Governor Eno. It was one of 39 projects marking the State's 39th anniversary, under the health pillar of the ARISE Agenda.
