About the project

This 13.5-kilometre road runs from Ikot Ebiere through Ikot Edor and Ikot Iko Ibon to Okom. It was awarded together with the Ukpana to Akpabom to Ikwe road, which has a 30-metre span bridge. The corridor is shared by Onna and Mkpat Enin Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State.

The project was started under the previous administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel. In March 2021 the State Executive Council approved additional works on it. The administration of Governor Pastor Umo Eno has continued the project and listed it in 2025 among the major roads it is funding.

The Ukpana to Akpabom to Ikwe section, about 6.9 kilometres with the 30-metre bridge, has been completed. The 2026 state budget provides N300 million for the remaining work. No completion date for the Ikot Ebiere to Okom section has been reported.

The road is expected to link farming villages in Onna and Mkpat Enin to markets and to the wider road network.
