About the project

The Nduetong Oku to Ibiaku Uruan to Ekit Itam Road is an 8.5-kilometre road with a 60-metre span bridge and spur roads. It runs through Itu, Uruan and Uyo Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State.

The road was started under the previous administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel. The administration of Governor Pastor Umo Eno has continued it, and in June 2025 it was listed among the major road projects this government is funding.

Party lists in 2025 described the road as ongoing. No completion or commissioning has been reported yet, and the contractor has not been confirmed.

When finished, the road is expected to link communities on the eastern edge of Uyo with Uruan and Itu, cut travel time and help farmers and traders move goods to markets.

The corridor links communities in two LGAs. The bridge is meant to give them a fixed crossing, so that people can reach schools, health facilities and relatives on the other side.

For work and income

Better roads mean easier movement of farm produce and stronger links between rural communities and markets. This route gives farmers in both LGAs a way to the Itam and Uyo areas.
