About the project

The project covers 1.24 kilometres of internal roads and a rigid pavement trailer park at Itam Market, also known as Etaha Itam Market, in Itu Local Government Area. It also includes solar street lights, a modern toilet block, and boreholes with an overhead tank.

Itam Market is one of the main trading points in the LGA and a major source of revenue for the council. In September 2023, Governor Pastor Umo Eno told the people of Itu that the state would build a park to move trailers off the roads.

The new trailer park is meant to give trucks a firm place to park and load, away from the roads. The internal roads, lights, water and toilets are meant to make the market safer, cleaner and easier to use for traders and buyers, by day and at night.

When finished, the project is expected to ease traffic around the market, support trade and raise revenue for the council, in line with the ARISE Agenda. Work is ongoing.

Impact Analysis

An assessment of the impact of these accomplishments on the people and communities.

For families and communities

Water, toilets and street lights are meant to make the market cleaner and safer for the people who spend their day there. A set trailer park can keep heavy trucks off the lanes used by shoppers.

For work and income

Better access to Itam Market helps commerce and logistics to grow. Paved internal roads and a trailer park are meant to make it easier to bring goods in and load them out.
