About the project

The project is the construction of internal roads inside the Ibom Industrial Park at Itam, Itu Local Government Area. The roads are dual carriageways built with rigid concrete pavement. They include a 6.25-kilometre internal road network and a 3.581-kilometre network in Zone A of the park.

The work is being delivered by the Akwa Ibom State Government, and the contractor is Base Engineering. The project was approved in July 2025, and construction was under way by June 2026. Work is ongoing.

The roads are meant to give factories in the park strong, all-weather access for heavy trucks. Good roads are among the facilities the state has promised investors in the park, along with power, water and security.

When completed, the roads are expected to make the park more attractive to investors and help bring factories and jobs to Itu, in line with the industrial goals of the ARISE Agenda.
