About the project

The Government Reserved Area (GRA) internal road network in Ikot Ekpene is a road and drainage project inside the GRA, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area. It covers internal roads, an outfall drain and erosion reclamation works.

The project was inherited from the previous administration as a 2.5-kilometre scheme. In February 2026 the administration of Governor Pastor Umo Eno upgraded it to 4.12 kilometres to take in additional sections.

The outfall drain carries storm water out of the estate, and the reclamation works deal with erosion in the area. The works are expected to make the GRA easier to reach, protect homes from flooding and improve living conditions for residents.

The road network was commissioned on September 23, 2026 by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, as part of events marking the 39th anniversary of Akwa Ibom State.
