About the project

The Nto Ide to Ikot Amba Bridge is a 60-metre span bridge with an 800-metre approach road. It links the Nto Ide and Ikot Amba communities and sits where Obot Akara and Ikot Ekpene Local Government Areas meet.

The bridge is a reinforced concrete structure with a 60-metre span, piled to a depth of 23 metres. The works also include the approach road and a drainage system. The contractor is Seyang Nigeria Limited.

The project was started by the previous administration and had reached about 60 per cent by May 2023. The administration of Governor Pastor Umo Eno took it over as one of the inherited projects it pledged to finish.

The bridge is meant to give the communities on both sides a safe, all-season crossing. It is expected to ease movement to farms, markets and schools, in line with the rural development pillar of the ARISE Agenda.
