For families and communities
When finished, the roads should give households in these neighbourhoods a paved way to schools, clinics and places of worship. The spurs are meant to bring side streets into the same network.

The construction of the 7.7-kilometre State Housing Road with spur, Ikot Obiokpon/Ibong Road with spur and Mount Zion Road with spurs is an urban road project in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area. It is a network of connected roads and spurs that serves the State Housing Estate and nearby neighbourhoods of Ikot Ekpene town.
The project is funded by the Akwa Ibom State Government. The State Executive Council approved the award on 19 November 2024. The 2026 state budget sets aside N1.5 billion for the 7.7km State Housing Estate roads with spurs. Work was listed as ongoing in April 2025. The contractor has not been named publicly.
When complete, the roads are meant to give residents of the estate and the surrounding streets paved access to their homes, schools, churches and clinics. Traders, transport workers and other commuters who use these streets every day should also find movement easier.
Good roads inside the town are expected to raise the value of homes and land along the routes and to reduce damage to vehicles. The project is part of the ARISE Agenda drive to improve roads in towns as well as in rural communities. It has not yet been commissioned.

Paved streets in a housing area can make it easier for shops and small businesses to open and to receive supplies. The work is still under way, so these gains are expected.
