About the project

The Model Primary Health Centre at Edemaya is a state health facility project in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. It is meant to serve Edemaya and nearby communities.

The centre is part of the model primary health centres the Akwa Ibom State Government under Governor Umo Eno is building across the state to bring basic care closer to rural people. It was last reported to be under construction, and its current status is still being confirmed.

Model primary health centres are meant to offer first-line care, including antenatal and delivery services, close to home. They are the first port of call for medical attention and support the work of general hospitals.

The centre is expected to cut the time and cost of reaching care and improve the health of mothers and children in the area, under the health pillar of the ARISE Agenda.
