About the project

The Ikot Akpaden-Ibekwe Akpanya Road is an 18km road project listed for Ikot Abasi Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. It runs between Ikot Akpaden and Ibekwe Akpanya, and is the longest of the road projects recorded in the LGA.

The road has a wide paved carriageway, with homes built along the roadside. Details of the contractor, funding and start date have not yet been confirmed.

A road of this length is meant to link farming villages to markets, schools and health centres, and to cut travel time between communities in Ikot Abasi and nearby areas.

It is expected to support trade and farming along the route. Roads of this kind are central to the rural development goals of the ARISE Agenda. The status of the project is still being confirmed.

Impact Analysis

An assessment of the impact of these accomplishments on the people and communities.

For families and communities

The road passes homes on both sides, so many households sit directly on it. A paved road is meant to give them a cleaner, safer way to reach schools, clinics and markets.

For work and income

At this length, the road joins many communities to one route. That can lower the cost of moving farm produce and fish, and let buses and trucks serve places they once avoided.
