Homes built for vulnerable residents. Ten homes are completed, and there are 11 beneficiaries. The new homes are brick bungalows with green or blue roofs, replacing old mud-walled houses. One has a furnished dining room.

ARISE Compassionate Homes are free houses that the Akwa Ibom State Government under Governor Umo Eno builds for very poor and vulnerable residents. In Ikot Abasi Local Government Area the homes are spread across the wards. Ten homes are completed, with 11 beneficiaries.
Beneficiaries are picked at ward level from people living in the worst conditions in their communities. In Ikot Abasi, the homes went to widows, elderly people and persons living with disabilities who had lived in thatched or mud-walled houses.
Each unit is a two-bedroom brick bungalow with a toilet, a kitchen and access to a borehole. Under the scheme, homes come with solar lighting and a solar-powered borehole, and each beneficiary receives a business grant of N500,000 to start earning a living. One of the homes in Ikot Abasi has a furnished dining room.
The homes are meant to give families safe and decent shelter in place of old mud houses, and a fresh start in life. They are part of the social welfare pillar of the ARISE Agenda.

An assessment of the impact of these accomplishments on the people and communities.

Local artisans were engaged to build the homes, which put income into the communities. The new owners are also spared the cost of patching old houses each rainy season.
