For families and communities
The road is meant to connect Itak to the state capital by a wide dual road. That can bring the Itak area, where the Senior Citizens Centre is sited, closer to city services.
I'm glad to share that work on Ring Road 3 dual carriageway in Ikono LGA is under way. A 7.86km dual carriageway from Idoro Road in Uyo through Ibiono Ibom to Itak in Ikono.

Ring Road III is a 7.868-kilometre dual carriageway in Akwa Ibom State. It starts at Idoro Road in Uyo, passes through Ibiono Ibom and reaches Itak in Ikono Local Government Area.
It is a state government project under Governor Umo Eno. Hensek Integrated Services Ltd, an indigenous firm, is building it. The official contract period is 30 months, while the contractor committed to finish in 13 months. Work is ongoing. By July 2025 the road was about 65 percent done, with the drains nearly finished and earthworks past 75 percent.
The road has two carriageways, modern drains and roundabouts at its main junctions. It is designed as an alternative route to the busy Uyo to Ikot Ekpene Road.
Once complete, the road is expected to ease traffic on the Uyo to Ikot Ekpene Road and make travel between Uyo, Ibiono Ibom and Ikono quicker and safer. It is one of the road projects of the ARISE Agenda.
The road has not yet been commissioned.

A dual carriageway can carry more vehicles and heavier loads than a village road. It is intended to ease the flow of goods between Uyo and the three LGAs it touches.
