About the project

The Nung Ukim to Afaha Obio Enwang to Nung Udoe Itak Road is a 12.5-kilometre road. It starts at Nung Ukim in Ikono Local Government Area and runs through Afaha Obio Enwang to Nung Udoe Itak, linking Ikono and Uyo Local Government Areas.

Governor Umo Eno flagged off its construction on 2 July 2025. Work is ongoing.

The road is meant to give Nung Ukim, Afaha Obio Enwang and Itak a better link toward Uyo, the state capital. It should make it easier for people to reach markets, schools, health centres and jobs, and for farmers to move their produce.

Once complete, the road is expected to cut travel time and open up the area for trade. It is one of the rural road projects of the ARISE Agenda.

The road has not yet been commissioned.

Impact Analysis

An assessment of the impact of these accomplishments on the people and communities.

For families and communities

The road is meant to give communities in the Nung Ukim and Itak areas a direct route to Uyo, the state capital. When finished, it can make trips for work, school and hospital visits easier.

For work and income

A link to Uyo gives Ikono farmers a way to reach the larger city market. It can also draw traders and visitors from Uyo into Ikono once the road is open.
