About the project
Ibom Medical City is a planned health complex of about 100 hectares on the ARISE medical corridor along the Uyo to Ikot Ekpene Road. Its centrepiece is the Ibom International Hospital, a 10-storey hospital with 350 beds.
The Akwa Ibom State Government under Governor Umo Eno is driving the project through the ministries of Health, Housing and Special Duties. Tokiye Integrated Medical Services (TIMS) is the project manager. The project was unveiled in June 2026, with the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, in attendance. The hospital foundation rests on 356 piles. Work is ongoing.
The hospital is planned as a top-level referral centre with specialist services such as cancer care, heart surgery, brain surgery, trauma care, orthopaedics and critical care. The wider medical city is planned to hold a diagnostics centre, pharmaceutical and laboratory facilities, housing for health workers, medical research and training centres, and a home for the elderly.
The project is expected to reduce the need for people to travel abroad for treatment, draw investment, and make the state a regional centre for health care. It is part of the health pillar of the ARISE Agenda.

Impact Analysis
An assessment of the impact of these accomplishments on the people and communities.
For families and communities
The Medical City is meant to bring specialist care closer to people in Ibiono Ibom and the rest of the state. If it is built as planned, patients could find many kinds of treatment in one place, and older people would have a home within the same site.
For work and income
A complex of this kind can create work for health staff, builders and suppliers. The planned pharmaceutical industry and housing estate are meant to add business activity around Ikot Ada Idem.
