For families and communities
The homes give people who had poor shelter a safe and dry place to live. Because each home stands in the owner's own village, the family stays among neighbours and relatives.

Ten homes are complete and two more are under way. Each of the 12 homes goes to one beneficiary in its own community.

ARISE Compassionate Homes is a housing scheme of the Akwa Ibom State Government under Governor Umo Eno. It gives free, permanent homes to the poorest and most vulnerable residents. In Ibiono Ibom, 12 homes are planned in 12 communities. Ten are complete and two are under way.
The homes are in Ikot Okop, Ibiaku Ikot Akpan, Ikot Edok, Ibiaka Ikot Udom, Ikot Akpan Obong, Ikot Osukpong, Afaha Obio Eno, Ikot Usen, Ntan Mbat, Ikot Ukana, Ikot Odiong Ididep and Ikot Enyin Idoro. Each home goes to one beneficiary in that community. Beneficiaries are chosen from the ward level, often from among those living in the worst conditions.
Each home is a furnished two-bedroom house with solar lighting, a solar-powered borehole and an outside kitchen. It is handed over free of charge. Each beneficiary also receives N500,000 to start a small business.
Ibiono Ibom was where the scheme began. The first ARISE Compassionate Home was handed over to a beneficiary in Ibiono Ibom in May 2024.
The scheme is meant to replace short-term relief with a lasting home, and to give families dignity and a way to earn a living. It is part of the social welfare focus of the ARISE Agenda.

An assessment of the impact of these accomplishments on the people and communities.
The homes give people who had poor shelter a safe and dry place to live. Because each home stands in the owner's own village, the family stays among neighbours and relatives.
A new house removes the cost of rent or constant repairs for a poor household. The building work in each village also gives short-term jobs to local bricklayers, carpenters and suppliers.
