About the project
This is the installation of solar street lights along the Uyo to Etinan road, one of the main routes between the state capital and Etinan. The lights are 123-watt all-in-one units, which means each light has its solar panel, battery and lamp in a single fitting.
Solar street lights do not depend on the public power supply, so they can stay on through the night even when there is no grid power.
The lights are meant to make the road safer for drivers, cyclists and people on foot after dark. They are also expected to help with security and allow traders along the road to keep working into the evening.
