About the project

This is the construction of the 8.4-kilometre Ediene Abak to Ikot Ekan road. It runs between Abak and Etinan Local Government Areas, so it serves communities in both. The contractor is JP Sigma.

Work is ongoing. The road is wide, and base and asphalt works are in progress with workers on site. The state government lists it among the projects under way in Abak Local Government Area.

At the Ikot Ekan end, the road serves the community that hosts the state-owned Ibom Paints factory. Better access is expected to help workers, traders and farmers move between the two council areas.

The road is meant to cut travel time, make trade easier and open up farmland along the route. It is part of the rural road network of Governor Pastor Umo Eno's ARISE Agenda.
